Hello Guest!
IP Address Approval
The IP Address Approval system provides an easy way for you to Allow or Block IP Addresses to protect your site from unwanted visitors. This super easy to use editor gives you all the control you need without the hassle of having to write your own code.
The IP Address Approval system will work with Blogger, Wordpress, Jimdo, Joomla, Squarespace, Wix, Weebly, Yola and more! How does it work?
The term 'IP Address' stands for Internet Protocol Address. In short, everyone connecting to the Internet has an IP Address, that is given to them by the Internet Service provider they use. So, your Internet Connection, and your website visitors, as well as where a website lives, has an IP Address.
The purpose of the IP Address Approval system is a service that checks the website visitor's IP address, and either allows that IP address and visitor to view the website or blocks that IP address and visitor. If the access is denied or blocked, you can sent them to a specific page of your site or a different web address altogether. Does the IP Address Approval service work with Intranet websites? Yes! You can install the downloadable PHP version, and install it on your intranet website(a network based website). The intranet website can be an internal network website, or public facing website. You would simply add the network's private IP Addresses, or IP range, to the allowed list, and set the website to closed. How do you know what the IP Address of a visitor is? Most website providers will log the visitor's IP address, either when they visit the website, when submitting a contact form, or submitting a blog comment. Why would you want to use the IP Address Approval system? There are two reasons you might want to use the IP Address Approval system. 1) The IP Address Approval system allows you to close your website, yet remain open for specific IP Addresses. Thus restricting access to your site, while remaining open to a list of IP's. 2) If someone is visiting your website, and you want to block them, they are likely repeatedly spamming your contact form or posting unwanted blog comments. In that case, the system you use likely logs the IP Address along with the data being submitted, and provides that information to you. If you wanted to block that IP Address, and visitor, you would add that IP address to the Banned IP's list as noted here: www.ip-approval.com/instructions Note: This does require that you know the IP Address of the person visiting your website. If you are unsure whether or not you have access to the visitors IP Address, you may want to check with your website service provider. With the paid version of our service, you can also see the IP Address, page visited, date and time of the visit to correlate with any spam messages you receive. |
